Hospitality

Located in Ivanhoe, Melbourne, Pinkie by Biasol is a refreshing new café that promises a fun, friendly and modern experience. We love that Pinkie is as much about community as it is about coffee and food; and the design, inspired by colour, materials and functionality, is warm and welcoming for dine-in and on-the-go customers to frequent every day.

Biasol’s approach began with colour and materiality to create a space that paired pink tones with black terrazzo and the exposed concrete infrastructure. We were engaged to provide a custom solution with our track mounted Binario and recessed lighting products, all of which are specified with a custom colour to further add to its interior scheme.

The lighting products we used for Pinkie provided sufficient light to highlight zones and dining. Each product was selected with intention, functionality and aesthetics in mind. Mattia on a LED smart dimmer was used to light the counter areas. Binario track mounted downlights on a LED smart dimmer was specified as a custom colour to match the existing interior scheme. The custom colour light fitting and the track against the exposed concrete infrastructure is definitely one of our favourite lighting installations.

“Our design approach started with colour selection, inspired by materiality and the existing infrastructure: dark and light pink, rose-pink glass blocks, black terrazzo and concrete floors. It was great to be able to specify a custom colour for the lights to further add and coordinate our interior palette. The ceiling was a great opportunity to emphasise the rawness of the existing concrete infrastructure with a colour and material palette evocative of postmodernist design.”
